Q1.

(Product 1 - Music video)

 My brief is to produce a narrative music video that is around 3 minutes in length. For my music video I plan to use media language to portray at least 2 different types of people. I will also use media language through the use of different shot types and camera angles as well as my actors' clothing and facial expressions / actions throughout the video. My target demographic is a younger audience who enjoy exploring the world while being surrounded by friends and having fun. I have chosen this as my target demographic as I believe that this particular type of person fits in well and relates with the lyrics of my chosen track. The selected record company, Beggars group places a strong emphasis on the importance of independent artists. My creative intentions will emphasise this as my music video will appear to be from an independent artist as I will make use of locations that are readily available for public use and so are low budget. I will use mise en scene to appeal to my target audience as my music video will contain young actors and performers who are portrayed as being of similar age to my target audience. This will be done through things such as the way the characters in the video act and behave as well as how they interact with each other. My music video will represent gender as it will feature both male and female characters. I am planning to film in the village of Pill, England as I believe it will make a good setting for my music video as it is a traditional looking, public place which works well with the narrative of my music video. This location is also easily accessible for both me and my actors so we would be able to commute there easily to film additional shots if needed. I will use editing to make the most of different shot types and camera angles to make my video interesting and engaging for my target audience. The lyrics of my chosen track will be interpreted through the actors' interactions with each other. 

 

(Product 2 - Website)

My website will feature a simple and indie look through the colour scheme and the font of the text, as well as the placement of the text. This links to the Beggars Group record company as they are known for supporting indie artists and bands. The simple look of the website will also be used to portray the band’s own simplistic feel. 




Q2. My music video and website will communicate the same brand identity through the use of the same actors featuring on both media products as well as screenshots of the music video featuring on the website. The website will have a simple yet indie look and feel to it which will also be expressed through the low budget production of my music video. As well as this, the band’s logo will feature both throughout the website and in the music video, which will have a simplistic and indie feel to it itself.
